H sections are wide flange steel shapes that are generally heavier and longer than I-beams and have longer flanges. In many cases H sections have webs and flanges with same thickness. They are mostly used for the construction of buildings and almost any type of general or special structures, bridges, and machines. They are particularly suited for columns, flooring, castellated beams, trusses and bridge applications.

I Sections/ I Beams
I Beams are shaped like the capital letter I and are also known as double T (in Bulgarian, Polish, Spanish, Italian, German). Their flanges are narrower than H-beams. I beams are good at bearing direct pressure and tensile and are particularly suited for commercial and residential constructions, also for portal frames, flooring, castellated beams, and roofing applications.

U sections/ Channels
The shape of the U-sections provides a great amount of structural strength, making it an ideal product for making frames and bracing. Usually they are used in the manufacturing of machinery, enclosures and vehicles, but also construction of buildings for structural support.

Beams are structural elements that resist loads applied to their axis. They typically transfer loads imposed along their length to their end points where the loads are transferred to walls, columns, foundations etc. They are usually made of structural steel and are used in construction and civil engineering, among other industries.
