ALUMINIUM
Aluminium is a metal with a number of advantages, it is known for being both lightweight and flexible. It can be cast, melted, formed, machined and manufactured into a variety of shapes and then subsequently fabricated to suit a whole variety of uses.
With density of approx. 2.7 g/cm3, aluminium is only about a third of the weight of steel. This is extremely beneficial in terms of logistics, because this “light weight” material is easier and cheaper to transport.
Besides, aluminium is also a corrosion resistant metal that generates a protective coating when it gets in contact with oxygen. Additional treatment of the surface such as painting and anodising can further contribute to its corrosion resistance. Another advantage of aluminium is its excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, which is why it is widely used in power transmission lines, LED lights, electrical products, computer motherboards, etc. Further characteristics of aluminium include that it is magnetically neutral, vapour-impermeable, resistant to UV radiation and fully recyclable. It is widely used in construction, automotive, electrical, food and pharmaceutical industry.
